It was a beautiful May day for an adventure in the woods! I felt good, legs were strong (thanks to my strength training!). My heart rate was a bit high; I need more heat training. This trail is fun! It's moderately technical - normal Tennessee technical with lots of roots and fun climbs. There were several neat bridges with two suspension bridges! So bouncy!!! The trail was well-maintained except for a large, downed tree that required some maneuvering around. I whammied pretty hard between miles 4 and 5, and I'm going to have to super glue my knee. I used my spider/snot/sweat bandana to keep a bit of pressure on it to slow the bleeding. Then I didn’t have a spider/snot/sweat bandana for the rest of the run - bummer! I slowed a bit and just had fun after hitting the ground so hard. I made a wrong turn with a mile left, oi! I still managed the overall unsupported FKT. I'd like to come back and try it again on a cooler day. It's worth doing again. A great adventure for sure with gorgeous lake views!
