I started this adventure at the tourist office in Matrei at 6:00 on Wednesday the 10th of July.

A beautiful single track took me through the valley to a path a little bit above Virgen (where I was staying with a camper and my dad) which continued all the way to the Nilljochhütte (tip: this hut is on a beautiful location, the day after I climbed all the way up again to have some food here).

After passing the hut, I crossed quite some meadows with cows (don't forget to close the fences when you enter the property!!!) that where chilling on the path and didn't want to move. After some carefully made detours around the cows and an easy downhill, I arrived in Hinterbichl.

There I thought it was 'only' a few more climbs, but don't underestimate this last part. Especially because you first cross the Islitzeralm to go the to waterfall before turning back to the alm and finishing.

I did this tour unsupported and took water from the streams with my flask that has a filter in it (I would not advise to just take water without a filter). It was a hot day and I could really feel why this route is called the 'Sonnseitenweg'.
