La difficoltà maggiore di questo FKT è forse la parte organizzativa. Infatti, in primavera ci sono pochi battelli per arrivare all'Isola Palmaria. Ma è questo il momento dell'anno migliore per affrontarlo, visto che poi in estate c'è un grande afflusso di persone, tra camminatori e bagnanti.
Per cui, ho preso il primo battello da La Spezia per il Terrizzo e dopo pochi metri di riscaldamento sono partito, per fare il giro in verso orario.
La prima parte è molto corribile, ma per andare verso il Pozzale si affronta una discesa breve, ma molto ripida. Dal Pozzale poi si risale e si affronta una salita piuttosto lunga, con qualche tratto roccioso. Una volta scollinato, picchiata verso Carlo Alberto, con un'altra discesa ripida e tecnica, dove occorre prestare molta attenzione.
Appena termina la discesa si vede Portovenere e da lì c'è un km circa che costeggia le spiagge attrezzate, per tornare al punto di partenza.
Giornata magnifica a livello meteorologico. Sul battello c'erano tanti turisti, ma tutti per le Cinque Terre. Al Terrizzo siamo scesi in 5. E così sono stato il primissimo a muovermi sull'Isola, trovando tutti i sentieri liberi, ad accezione delle capre e dei gabbiani, che si spaventavano al mio passaggio.
Per quanto sia un un tracciato di soli 6 km, è molto bello e vario, con anche 2/3 pezzi molto tecnici, che rallentano parecchio.
Attenzione, anche ad alcuni passaggi, dove non c'è grande segnalazione cartellonistica ed è facile sbagliare percorso.
Perhaps the greatest difficulty of this FKT is the organizational part. In fact, in spring there are few boats to get to Isola Palmaria. But this is the best time of year to tackle it, since then in summer there is a large influx of people, including walkers and swimmers.
So, I took the first boat from La Spezia to the Terrizzo and after a few meters of warming up I set off, to do the round trip in a clockwise direction.
The first part is very runnable, but to go to Pozzale you face a short but very steep descent. From the Pozzale you then climb back up and face a rather long climb, with some rocky sections. Once over the top, nosedive towards Carlo Alberto, with another steep and technical descent, where great care must be taken.
As soon as the descent ends, Portovenere comes into view, and from there it is about a kilometer that runs along the equipped beaches, back to the starting point.
Magnificent day weather-wise. There were many tourists on the boat, but all for the Cinque Terre. At Terrizzo, 5 of us got off, and so I was the very first to move onto the Island, finding all the paths clear, except for the goats and seagulls, which were startled as I passed.
Although it is a trail of only 6 km, it is very beautiful and varied, with also 2/3 very technical pieces, which slow down quite a bit.
Beware, too, of some of the passages, where there is not much signposting and it is easy to take the wrong route.
