I started at Swan Inn in Rowberrow, one of 6 Butcombe pubs that make up this round, and headed clockwise. It was still dark when I set off around 6:50 which made route finding a little challenging. I had a gpx but it was not always accurate, the route is well marked by signs. The first 40km was very cold with plenty of snow and ice. As I decended into Cheddar there was clear transition and the ground was softer. I refilled my bottles in West Harptree (16km) and stopped for lunch in Cheddar (43km), Christmas baguette! It is a cracking route around my local playground so a really special day out.
