Started shortly after 6am and finished just under 12 hours later
Ran unsupported carrying all food from the start, refilling water in streams and the public water fountain at the Pikes Peak summit house.
It looks like my GPS didn't pick up immediately, but I started and stopped at the same place. I can share a photo of my starting location if needed.
The trails on and surrounding Pikes Peak were where I was first introduced to trail running, so it feels very special to do my first FKT here. Made the ascent in around 3:40, feeling great up and over. However once I started up from the crags parking lot I was slowed down considerably. Poles would be very helpful at this point. Elevation caused some stomach problems on my second ascent (wasn't able to get any Spring energy gels so I had to use Gu) but I kept a steady pace and was able to push on the downhills to squeeze in under the 12 hour mark.
