I began moving at around 6:30am where the road became too rough to continue driving. This was about a mile from the beginning of the FKT route. I arrived at the parking lot with the sign for the Reserva Nacional 00:22:41 later. I’ve subtracted this from my total elapsed time of 09:55:53 to get to 09:33:12 as my total time for the FKT route. I traveled alone, without a guide and received no support along the way. After reaching the summit, I decided to take a detour to the crater viewpoint, which is not part of the FKT route. It was worth a few extra minutes to see the bubbles and steam. This was an excellent route to summit a non-technical peak at high altitude and get nearly 8k ft of continuous scree skiing on the descent.
