8/29/2025 - Mandy Hansel - Unsupported Female FKT - Upper Midwest Bluff to Bluff route
I started my attempt at Granddad’s Bluff at 10:09am with a selfie at the lookout. Making my way down on the trails it did start to rain once I made it to the Lower Hixon parking lot. Headed through Myrick Park and into the La Crosse marshy area. Trails were in great shape with no water coverage over any part. Came into Riverside Park in La Crosse and stopped at the public porta potty and then headed over to the public drinking fountain and refilled my water bottle. Headed over the Mississippi River via the big blue bridge. Steps were wet from the rain so made sure to take it easy up and down. Made my way through Pettibone park. The path was in great condition here as well. Made my way out of the park and to the Wagon Wheel trail and into La Crescent. Stopped at the trail head before climbing Eagle Bluff to apply bug repellent as this section is known for being VERY buggy! I was pleasantly surprised to not be bothered by many mosquitoes at all. The climb to the top is quite steep but I felt I made good time as I climbed. Reached the top and made sure to get my selfie! Then made my way down the back side to the trail head on Red Apple Drive. Finished in 4 hours 43 minutes and 20 seconds.
