My first FKT, albeit delayed 1 week due to constant rain. Today was the first bright day in a while, so I made the most of this great autumn weather.
This route starts in Maidencombe carpark and finishes at Brixham harbour (William III monument). The JMHT is roughly 45% Devon trails and 55% Devon country lanes. Too much tarmac for me but I had a blast regardless.
I was supported by my wife (top crew chief) and met her on 3 different locations for snack top-ups.
The ferry is very easy to catch, you simply ring the bell outside the "ferry boat inn" and wait...this did cost me an extra 15mins or so but adds a fun twist to the challenge.
Be careful in Brunel woods (close to the start) a few others have taken an early left turn when the true official JMHT tracks up hill then takes a left up another hill with steps.
All in all, a great day out. If you're local to the area, go on, give it a bash!
