Really great route which consisted of a varied terrain (Trail, road, sand and gravel) and absolutely stunning scenery which included pine forests, beaches, sand dunes and marshland.

Route was tricky to navigate in parts, particularly the forest and the dunes of Ainsdale/Formby due to it being quite overgrown and multiple path options. It was great that it takes you onto the beach for a couple of sections as it would have been a shame to not run next to the sea.

Couple of pointers, the GPX route at around 16km (Butterfly Route trail section) tries to take you into the forest via a route that is now heavily overgrown and unaccessable so we had to take the closest path and rejoin the route 5 minutes after at the first opportunity to rejoin the GPX route. Also bad move wearing shorts as I did due to the dense heather that covers a large section of the trails, legs were shredded :-)

Overall a very enjoyable run!
