I completed a traverse of the Central Bitterroot Range, from Nez Perce Pass to Lolo Peak. My friend joined for the first half (until Bear Creek Pass), before he had to get back to Missoula. Because of this, the attempt was supported; I cached food in his truck at this half way point, so I could re-fuel for the second half of the traverse, which I did solo. Aside from this one re-supply, I carried all my gear and food and got water from lakes/tarns along the way.
It is a gorgeous, rugged, off-trail route. Extra fun to follow the the Idaho-Montana border for the vast majority, including seeing the historical cairns and mile markers from the 1904–1905 state boundary survey.
