Drove up from Kent this morning and was planning on just running the horseshoe as a recce for having a proper attempt in a few weeks as ive been suffering with good old man flu this week. i pulled up in to the car park after a lovely 5 hour drive (crying) and straight into it. Walked to the start at the back end of the car park, i havent done this route before so was following the gpx file from the page, i started where the gpx said to start and i was off, considering it was a recce i went off a little fast and i was struggling to breathe a bit with the blocked nose from the man flu, and as soon as we hit 52 steps my HR went through the roof, managed to get to the top and settled into a nice easy pace, the gpx went a bit funny at corn du, said i was off course, then on then off then back on again, but i carried on over corn du and then up and over the pen y fan, it was probably the best views id ever seen from up there and i was debating getting the phone out for some pics but i saw the time and thought that it was maybe doable. so off we went down jacobs ladder and up cribyn, id forgotten how long that goes on for ha ha. At this point i was just over 3km from the end and had about 14 mins to get back, i knew it was going to be a struggle, and i thought lets see what happens, i opened up the pace and shot down Roman road faster than i ever have before, all the way back through to the car park, legs feeling like jelly and luckily no spue, although i felt like there could be. Tough route to be fair, and one that i will come and have another go on once im fully fit, and havent just drove 5 hours.
