With no races to be had right now thanks to Coronavirus-related restrictions, the plan was to give this a full effort. I put together an aggressive pacing strategy with some help from my coach, and Daniel and Alex were both gracious enough to offer to crew me to help keep my stoppage time at a minimum. The actual date and start time were selected to try and minimize heat as much as possible, put me on the beach around low tide, and stay somewhat in line with the normal times I'm used to running.

The first 2.5 hours or so went incredibly well. At that point the heat + sun reflecting off the ocean started to wear on me a bit. I did what I could to stay cool, and despite having to work harder was still moving pretty well through 27 miles or so (about 3.5 hours).

Unfortunately my legs, particularly my quads, decided they had had enough at this point. They started to cramp and seize, and I was more frequently having to stop and walk and/or try to massage them back to life. I continued with this for the last 4 or 5 miles of the run.
