Epic day, epic route!
I started off from Seal Beach Pier at 11:30am after being dropped off by my girlfriend, with perfect weather for a long day at the beach! Lol. Nice fast and smooth running all the way through Huntington and Newport (my hometown). First stop for water and a bathroom break accross the street from Cappy's Cafe. Held a solid pace around 6:30 for the first 20 miles or so, stopped in Crystal cove for my second water refill. Then hit the rolling hills through Laguna which slowed me down a little bit. A third stop for water at Aliso beach in Laguna. Lots of construction going on in Laguna so there were some sketchy sections where I was forced to run in the right lane on the street, not ideal! Final stop for water at a random water fountain off PCH in Dana Point just before the descent near the harbor. Made it all the way through to San Clemente way ahead of schedule, had to take a detour at the very end, landslide on the cliff near the train tracks made it impassable, so had to do a half mile or so on the sand on the beach. Finished at the pier in 4:20:58. Nice! I really believe that this is Orange County's premier road FKT route! Would love to see some more people take a crack at it.
