The Franconian Red Wine Trail, named by its initiators, is a regional hiking trail that leads through red wine-growing areas in the Main Valley between Spessart and Odenwald. It was created in 1990 and is around 78 kilometers long. Geographically, the region belongs to the Bavarian Lower Main in Lower Franconia and is also known as Churfranken.
The trail begins at the “Lützeltaler Berg,” a red wine vineyard in Großwallstadt, leads through Großostheim (Aschaffenburg district), Obernburg, Elsenfeld, Erlenbach, Klingenberg, Großheubach, Miltenberg, and ends in Bürgstadt, where the Erf flows into the Main. In almost all of these places, there are wine taverns that are open irregularly.
Just follow the red wine glass sign!
