As a Georgia Sea Turtle Center AmeriCorps alum, I’ve spent a lot of time on the bike paths of Jekyll. On this trip south, I wanted to circumnavigate the island, and bring the FKT home for the turtles.
The heat and humidity this morning was a bit of a shock to the system, and parts of the bike path were flooded with ~10” of standing water from the recent heavy rains. That said, it was great to be back on island with painted buntings, parulas, and yellow-throated warblers providing the soundtrack for my run. Carried a single handheld and some VT maple syrup. Safe to say the post-run dip in that muddy Georgia water was well deserved!
