I set out to do this route at 8:30 AM on Saturday, November 21st from the North Turkey Creek Trailhead. I tracked this on both my Strava and Suunto watch, which ended up losing battery at about 12.5 miles. Despite a few turnarounds at crossroads, I followed instructions from the two previously set times and checked GPS regularly to make sure I was on the right track. After turning around at 13.5 miles and seeing a sign for the end of the trail, I made my way back to the north end. I carried spring gels, trail butter and 3 water bottles with me (wish I had brought more given the humidity). In total, I saw about 6 groups of people hiking including a boy scout troop. All in all, it was a good route! I ended up finishing in 3:37:56, to snag the overall FKT in addition to setting a women’s FKT for Turkey Creek Trail. I’ll be posting a recap to www.meginspire.com soon with pictures!
