I'd run the black mountain trail a couple times in the past, but never time trialed it. The first part of my workout on Friday involved a tempo run, and the idea of turning this into a time trial up black mountain quickly evolved as a fun challenge. I started at the Rhus Ridge Trailhead and ran all the way to the summit alone. Did some intervals on Montebello road at the summit then ran back down. The total time on my watch for the ascent was 37:52, but I stopped it several meters after the set endpoint, and on the Strava leaderboard associated with this route description it has me at 37:49, so I inputted that time. Overall a really fun, challenging, and beautiful route! It's one of the Bay Area classics and I highly recommend it!
