I started in Munising and started the 42-mile run at 9:00 am on Sunday, October 27th, and finished 6 hours and 28 minutes later at the trailhead in Grand Sable. It was a cool day and the starting temperature was in the 40's. The run went very smoothly. The first several miles were slower than anticipated because the boardwalks were wet from rain and covered in wet leaves which made them very slick. I think that Munising to Miner's Castle has the most technical trails because it has the most rocks and roots. Leaves during this time of year made it difficult to see the trail during the entire run. I carried all of of gear with me, and was hoping to be able to top off my bottles at the campgrounds if needed but the campgrounds were all closed and there were caps on the water taps, but I didn't need them anyway because I ended up having enough water for the entire route. I ran it alone with no outside help or any self-support. My friend from the local running club, Keith, gave to a ride to the start and then picked me up when I finished. I had a really fun time! Beautiful Scenery!
