Church of the Sunday Glacier Explorers Club: Bowman-Kintla lakes with a jaunt up to the Boulder throne. Started at the Bowman Lake campground around 8 a.m., a little later start than planned but the extra rest was nice. Great sunrise over the mountains and the lake. Pretty quick moving along the trail to Head Bowman campground and across Bowman creek. Climb up to Brown Pass was nice, with a short stretch of overgrown trail that soaked us. Brown Pass to Boulder Pass might be one of the single best sections of trail in the entire park. After a quick lunch break (hummus/veggie tortilla wraps), we popped up to Boulder Peak which was a quick scree jaunt to the throne, which is possibly the best mountain seat in the world. Probably could have found a more direct way back down to the trail, but the variation was totally worth it. The run down to Upper Kintla lake had a lot of overgrown sections of trail but was really nice. Definitely felt the day on our legs when we hit Kintla, but rallied well for the last few miles. The lake was amazing to soak in afterwards. Moving time was 7:20, total time on the day was 9:24. Definitely think that the route could be done without lunch breaks and the Boulder Peak add on in about 6ish hours or so. Excited to come back and try a faster go of it.
