I made an attempt at this route on 12/28. I was curious about the route for some time, but I have never been on any part of the route before and had no idea what to expect. The Shore Trail was extremely rocky involving a lot of scrambling in the northern section. I had no idea about that section. Google 'Palisades Giant Stairs' if you want to get an idea. Unfortunately, I did get detoured within the first 2 minutes of the run by a pedestrian bridge closure. I followed the detour signs back south to a crosswalk, then again back north on the road which led back to the Long Path. At that point I thought it would be fair to run back south to the point of the closure and then double back and continue the route. This detour overall added about 1.2M and 8:33 to my run. Other than that addition, I was able to follow the rest of the route correctly.
My time was about 7 minutes short of the latest submitted FKT, but that one as well as the previous one did not follow the exact route correctly. I leave it up to the powers that be to categorize them. In any case, I will definitely try this one again- I'll keep an eye out for when that bridge opens up!
