April 1–Started at 9:45 a.m. from underneath the John A. Roebling Bridge in Cincinnati. Even though the elevation profile suggests one start in Columbus, I made the call to switch my start point the night before because of the high wind advisory for much of Ohio on this day. I was supported by the one and only Jason Wish (check out his YouTube channel if you want to see all his FKT/hiking/kayaking/RVing/farming adventures). Jason rode an electric tricycle pulling all the supplies I needed for the attempt. This adventure would not have been possible without him—I’m incredibly grateful to him for taking time out of his busy schedule to do this with me. If you want more information on this attempt than I’m providing here, Jason will likely post a YouTube video documenting much of it in the next few months.
April 2–We went through the whole night, only stopping for a twenty-five minute dirt nap in the very early morning. If I would not have had Jason to wake me, I might still be sleeping there. We arrived in London mid-morning and then set up for the final push into Columbus. My right Achilles gave me issues on and off for the last twenty miles. Finished in Columbus at 2:40 p.m. Drained, tired, exhausted, grateful to get off my feet. Exhilarated.
