Unsupported solo out and back of the Howe Sound Crest Trail from Porteau. I went to the trailhead where Jessie M's S-N effort starts and turned around.
I like the out and back as the effort. You start at the ocean, end at the ocean and venture to the mountains. Natural. Logical. Human powered.
My splits: 4:27 N-S and then 4:44 S-N (not ideal). I had a good ole cramp between KM 30-40 which inhibited my movement quite dramatically..I worked through it though via consuming a good amount of precision gels and sodium tabs.
Wore arcteryx vertex speed shoes which work very well in this terrain – nimble.
Carried 26 precision 30 gels.
