Mike Hartley ran Wainwright's Coast to Coast from St Bees to Robin Hood's Bay with a target time of 42 hours. He followed the precise route used by the previous record holder, Mike Cudahy. Mike took over 7 hours off the existing record, completing in 39 hours, 36 minutes. Mike Cudahy paced Mike for much of the last 50 miles of the route.
