I have been wanting to establish this route which circumnavigates my hometown for quite some time. I was in town to visit my parents and figured this was as good a time as any. It was a beautiful August morning with temps in the high-50's as I ventured out of my mom's house to the star-filled pre-dawn morning. Since the trail encircles the town you can access it from about anywhere. So, I only had about a 1/4 mile walk from her house to access the loop. It was a solitude-filled run as I encountered just a few other runners/walkers/bicyclists. One of the highlights was spooking a herd of deer in the meadows near the high school and watching them gracefully bound over the fences. I only snapped one photo and it was one of my favorite places along the route - the stray cat shelter in Edmundson Park. It is a picnic shelter where a group of stray cats live and they are always there whenever I've run by.
