I started on the upper west side, around 125th street, heading clockwise. I mostly followed the original route except for two areas. On the south tip, I went the route of the previous FKT, following the Hudson River Greenway instead of the Battery Park City Greenway. I continued north until I hit the construction between 100th street and 125th street, then went up into Riverside Park, then found my way back to where I started. This was an unsupported effort, so nobody ran with me, and I carried water and nutrition with me in my running vest. There are some spots where my gps accuracy was a little iffy, but nothing major. Hopefully this doesn't add question to the validity of the FKT. I think it's pretty clear where I went, but the mile times might just be a little off in some cases. Overall, this was a really tough effort. Right from the beginning my legs were on fire, and it never got better until about 22 miles in. The construction that forced me to cut into Riverside Park made things really difficult at the end, definitely adding a few minutes to my time. Still a lot of fun though, and I'm happy with how I did!
