On friday june 9th, we started our third attempt on the Roswitha-way at 11 p.m. at the Roswitha-fountain in Bad Gandersheim, so we were heading north back to Nienburg. The first night went smooth and fast as sunrise is early this time of year. On Saturday we were facing most of the climbs of the route with the Hils, the Ith and the Saupark. We chose the hottest weekend of the year so far, which made our decision to go unsupported even more challenging. But we stuck to getting water from streams and public water sources. As the sun was setting on saturday evening we reached the last hill on the way, the Deister, and took a little break in a hiking hut for about two hours for a short nap and some food. The Deister took us the rest of the night and on sunday we had about 75 relatively flat kilometers remaining. We just so made in the last light of the day and arrived at the river Weser in Nienburg happy, but totally exhausted.
