Weather was around 55 degrees and cloudy when I started a little after 6:30AM and stayed cloudy most of the morning, really nice for running!  This was my first FKT attempt so I didn't know how it would go.  First climb was tough but then I got warmed up and felt better for most of the climbs.  Trail is pretty technical like Luke said and has lots of roots and rocks which made for fun running!  There wasn't any rain while I ran but the trail was fairly wet, so I did slip a little but no falls or injuries on the ascent.  Wasn't sure I was going to be able to keep the pace the whole time and had to slow down a little for the last climb to the base of Clingman's Dome.  Probably ran 80% of the ascent and then hiked a few of the steep, technical sections.  Got to the top of the tower and took a few pictures (which are on my strava) and prepared to go back down!
