We arrived at the park shortly after opening in an attempt to beat the rain. We climbed the west side of the mountain, and the rain intensified with each kilometer. As visibility was limited, we bypassed all lookouts and stayed on the main path. Hiking poles were key for the slippery descent. Don't let the short distance fool you; bring water, even on the wettest of days. We wouldn't have made it up the hill without it.
