Yesterday, New Year's Day, I [Neil Clauson] ran the Nehantic Trail from Hopeville Pond to Green Falls Pond and back in 3:23:17. It was a beautiful winter day for running, icy and wet in spots, but the dirt was nice and tacky. This trail is fast, flat, pine-needle bliss! The only real hill that is noticeable is "Mount" Misery, which is not really a mountain. The trail is also well-marked and in good condition, just a few fallen trees. It is, however, very easy to make a wrong turn, which I did on at least three occasions- there are numerous other trails intersecting the Nehantic. My cheapo GPS shortchanges my mileage and even more the elevation.
