Pretty steep right out of the gate. Luckily the NW ridge was in the shade for a good bit of the climb. Once you get through the trees, not much shade or water available. Overall Emigrant is a great summit, hard to keep your eyes off of the Cowen Massif to the north, or the other notable peaks visible in every direction.
In general it is a fairly simple route, the trail is pretty easy to follow, which leads right to the summit. In my case, in order to hit my target time I only stopped on top to guzzle 1/2 liter of water, and was otherwise moving.
