I've been wanting to do an FKT for quite a while now and coming back from Australia into Belgium (which went straight into another lockdown), this was the perfect time. I decided to get out early as possible on a Sunday, so not to much other human activity and no hunting on the day. I wasn't sure if I would have to recce it first or could do it straight away, so I went in with an open mind. But race or not, when something is in your head and you press start all you can think of is how fast you could get this in. I I guessed one litre of water and a handful of dates would do. With everything on my pack, I left the car at the carpark in Theux. First a small little warm up and then off I went. The first part is quite aggressively up, or that might be me as I've been focussing on road PB for a while. After 7km I got into a rhythm and and clocked away the distance. I did a few small mis turns, but backtracked always to the point I went 'rogue'. I did notice that the signalisation was a tiny bit different from the official gpx file online on the ExtraTrail website, but that's probably normal too. It was a fun route and I'm already planning on doing the black route too.
