Made an attempt at the unsupported FKT this morning, and managed to snag it! Wanted to stay comfortable for as long as I could. I think I got a little bit ahead of myself early on and was really worried that I was going to pay for it, but I managed to keep it together however uncomfortable it may have been. The last few miles were a real grind especially as the temperature warmed up.
I had to backtrack in multiple places where I overshot turns that weren't well-marked. There are definitely some areas that are unmarked or only marked in one direction. I was happy to nail the navigation around Memorial Beach Park where there's no marker for the hairpin left-hand turn up into the beach area (when going clockwise around the loop).
Overall, no complaints here - really enjoyed this!
