This route is a shorter, more direct classic, but starting from 3,600 meters demands excellent acclimatization. Having spent the previous days at high altitude, my body was well-prepared. This allowed for strong and efficient progress right from the start, despite the deep fatigue accumulated over the preceding days. The technical sections on Mont Maudit were managed smoothly; utilizing two ice axes allowed for a fast and secure climb.
Nearing the summit, clouds began to build rapidly. I was fortunate to summit just before the peak was completely engulfed, though I had to brace against very heavy winds. The initial descent was challenging, as the incoming fog slowed my pace and complicated navigation. Fortunately, the weather cleared relatively quickly, which brought a second wind. I was able to attack the remainder of the descent with solid energy, maintaining a strong running pace on the less technical sections all the way back to the start.
