The route starts at Feather Park, just a 10-minute walk from my house. I set off at 4:00 a.m. and crossed the Welcome to Pemberton sign a little over 13 hours later. I followed Emma Hall’s GPS track as closely as I could, though a few wrong turns added some bonus kilometres and vert along the way. Unsupported from start to finish, I carried all my own food and relied on the many rivers en route to refill water.
