FKT: Olivia Amber, Matthew Cornell - MacLure High Route - 2025-08-18

This route might just be the best tour of Lyell Canyon and the surrounding peaks! Early frosted meadows (surprising for mid-August), crisp air, and cloudless skies among Tuolumne's pleasant alpine setting encompassed the experience. It was Matt's first time on the route (and actually, his first time in that corner of the park), surprising for someone who has spent a decade of summers climbing around Tuolumne. We bounded through boulders, zipped by pristine deep blue lakes, and scurried up to the summits in great weather and spirits. We casually ran back to the car along the trail, chatting with the many JMT hikers along the trail.
