It was a fantastic day to do the itching way.  It was cold but the sun was shining approximately 9:15 am. First part of the course was fairly easy-going. It was a little muddy and there was some water logged fields but for the most part it was pretty easy-going. we had all our water and food for the day in our backpacks ? Marie Lou made a great sandwiches and we had nuts and gels and the usual snacks. The route is consistent and follows the itching from source to see and it’s really pretty in the water is lovely and clear further down the road though the river was pretty flooded and went onto the path so it was a case of waiting through shin-deep water and being careful to stick to the path and not go near theriver itself. The trail becomes more urban as it heads into Southampton and whilst those are not as pretty, there are still some surprising areas of greenery and trees.
