I completed the GR221 from Port d’Andratx to Pollença between June 21 and June 23 in a self-supported style, finishing in an elapsed time of 59h 17m 32s.
The main challenge throughout the attempt was definitely the heat. Temperatures remained high for the entire (very exposed) route, making hydration and pacing critical factors every day. There are no water sources along the trail in the summer, so I had to carry at least 3-4l between sections and resupply in little towns every ~20km. Aside from the heat, the attempt went smoothly without any significant issues.
The GR221 is an exceptionally beautiful route, combining rugged mountain terrain, remote sections, historic stone paths, picturesque villages, and stunning views across Mallorca. While the conditions were demanding, the experience was enjoyable from start to finish.
Overall, this was a challenging but rewarding self-supported crossing of Mallorca on one of Europe's most scenic long-distance trails.
