This was a training run for an upcoming ultra, and as a local, I was thrilled to tackle the Harpers Ferry Triple Crown Loop! While I’ve run these trails separately many times, I had never combined all three into one epic adventure—what a way to celebrate my hometown!
Total Intake:
- Water: 2500 ml (2.5 liters)
- Sodium: 3000 mg
- Carbohydrates: 300 grams
There were a few twists and turns along the way, including a brief detour in Harpers Ferry and some GI discomfort on the towpath. Plus, the Weaverton cliffs were packed with weekend adventurers, adding a fun bit of chaos!
Looking back, I’d definitely consider a cooler weekday for my next attempt—less traffic means more running bliss! This loop served as an awesome training session for my upcoming ultra and provided valuable insights into pacing and nutrition.
