22deg at the start with a high of 45deg. Sunny all day. Thin layer of snow on a lot of the downhills on the northern facing slopes. My parents drove me down and started just after 8am. They met me with food and water at 11.6, 17, 25.2, 34.2, 37.5, 43.5 mi markers. Reached SR160 at 1:55, New Chapel TH at 2:52, Leota TH at 4:18, Old SR 56 at 6:10, Oxley Hollow TH at 6:55, and Spurgeon Hollow TH at 8:04. Stops got quicker as we went and got into a groove. Started out a little too ambitious and overdressed. Felt really good so let myself push a little bit. Probably overdid it a little the first couple hours but who knows. Started feeling tired at 3hrs and stomach was a little off. I could eat, but I didn’t feel like it. I didn’t feel like I had much ability to push the effort anymore and had to back off quite a bit and just settle in. I don’t think I fully recovered and settled into ultra mode until almost 6.5hrs. Finally started feeling like I could push a little the last 3 hours and enjoyed the trails and watching the sun go down. Finished about 30min before dark. I feel very content with this effort. I haven’t run 9hrs in a long time and my body held up pretty well.
