I set this FKT on Easter Sunday morning, Sunday, April 5, 2026. It was a perfect spring morning in Winchester, VA. The Green Circle trail is a great and scenic 6 mile look around the lovely and historic town of Winchester, VA. Today I planned to run 2 laps around the Green Circle for 12 miles total. The first loop would be a warmup and the second lap would be my time to set the FKT. After running the first loop, I replenished my carry bottle of Tailwind and set back out. I was parking in the Shenandoah University parking lot near the public restrooms and Green Circle mile marker 0.19. There's a natural start line at that sign between the concrete and asphalt. If you want to start at 0.0 you could go over to the Hampton Inn and it's a circular trail, so you can really start anywhere. But I like this starting spot, there's plenty of parking, it's right off I-81, and there's also the restroom area.

I started the FKT attempt at 7:58am under perfect conditions. I went in the counter clockwise direction. The first 3 miles are a gradual uphill climb towards the Winchester Medical Center and a CVS. At that point, you start the gradual downhill back to the finish line. With about 1-2 miles to go, it started to rain and by the end it was raining pretty hard. As such, I don't have a ton of pictures to share. But I posted some other ones that were good on the route page. I finished the FKT attempt 1:13:27, which was fast for me, but should be a pretty easy one for you to beat, so I hope you get a chance to enjoy Winchester and have a great run around this splendid town.
