A solo escape to Lake Garda turned into a perfect window for adventure. With poor weather back home, I headed south and set out on a self-supported attempt on the Monte Baldo Traverse after a huge training block.
Starting in Torbole and finishing in Garda, the route was a nice adventure: still some lingering snow at higher elevations, fast-changing conditions, and the constant pressure of building thunderstorms and navigating right.
Fuel stops with Coke and Red Bull at La Capannina and Rifugio Chierego — just enough to keep moving efficiently through the range. After reaching Garda, I returned to Torbole by public bus, keeping the effort fully self-supported from start to finish.
The day ended the right way: a well-earned pizza in Torbole, tired legs, and that quiet satisfaction only a long mountain run can bring. A good day in the mountains with many new learnings. Love running.
