Nice weather for a long run like this. Maybe a bit windy.
I didn't start feeling too comfortable, I thought I was doing too much effort for the speed I was going. So I tried to relax and kept it somewhat cool until I hit the pavement on West Hill Road. I knew this part would be pavement until Cider Knoll so I tried to keep a controlled but faster pace. Not sure it worked out too too well, I was starting to feel tired. Kept it going though, legs were still moving. I wanted to hit Boston Road bridge with something left in the tank so I can push the end. After Cider Knoll, I was slowing down a bit still but it wasn't too alarming. The long section on the Bay Circuit Trail was quite difficult because it is very runnable and I needed to keep it very controlled. I took my last gel behind Stony Brook Golf Course and managed to reach the bridge and then off I went. Pushed the last few miles to my car. There was a bit of a headwind by that point so it wasn't as easy as I imagined.
Overall, and given my training the previous weeks, I think I did a solid run so I'm happy. Now, I could have paced it a bit better perhaps. I'm sure there's room for improvement.
I ate 1200 calories total on the run (300x4 gels), and drank 300 calories (3x500mL bottles of water + hydration mix).
