Since I moved to the Bay area, I was always enamored by Point Reyes. It is green, luscious, moving and just the most magical landscape. When I saw this FKT, I wanted to originally do it solo, but the more I spoke about it, my amazing friends (Rachael Sage, KK Fischer, Ross Ellison and Jo Ohm) were interested in being a part of it!
We left early to start our hike to Tomales Bay, and ventured south along the dairy farm roads, lupine fields, and rolling green hills. My friends KK Fischer and Ross Ellison were starting this same route from the south (Bolinas) and to meet us at the half way point for a water refill, sandwhiches, chocolate chip cookies and giggles.
The first half of the route was stunning with road sections along dairy farms until we hit the trailhead to Vision Road. We saw coyotes, banana slugs, and the most gorgeous wildflowers !
We hit our aid in the afternoon at mile marker 21 at Sky Trailhead and refueled, met KK and Ross. Jo stayed back and then Rachael and I started to head south! We ventured through thick pine forests with blue skies above us! The fog was rolling in and we could start to see the city lights of Bolinas. We headed into Bolinas as the sun was setting and ended at the magical beach of Bolinas! All of my sincere thanks and gratitude to these incredible friends. We will be back for more Point Reyes magic soon!
