We left the Plaza de Mulas ranger station at ~05:30am for our second bid on the summit. This one with my partner, Tyler Andrews, who would go on to set the Horcones-Summit-Horcones record a few days later. We made it to Canada in 1h27 and to Nido in another 1h16. From there, it was 5h15 to the summit. Conditions were generally good, though exceptionally cold from Nido to Colera before the direct sunlight hit. Above Colera, we put on crampons around 6100m and wore them to the top. Tyler had a gear failure at 6890m (a broken crampon -- yes, again) so I continued on to the summit solo while he dealt with that. I reached the summit and 7h58 and he was a few minutes behind. Otherwise, we were together most of the route.

I wore a fairly minimal outfit of a high-capacity running pack from Ultraspire, the HOKA Toa hiking boot, and a camp semi-technical crampon. I used a black diamond ice ax and 1 trekking pole above Colera, though the ice ax was only needed for safety in case of self arrest. Generally, it was a great and challenging day with mostly good conditions.
