The first 6 miles or so were amazingly beautiful. Once I dropped off the ridge into the woods, it turned into a very technical trail ... roots, rocks, mud the entire way - never letting up. It got a lot hotter and more humid then I was expecting, coming from the South. If I were to do it again I would consider a different month because the trifecta of mosquitos, horseflies, and black flies were a force. I started and finished from the government peak trail head going CCW. In summary - incredible and stunning trail, but avoid the summer bugs at all costs!
