Before the Primitivo route, I started with the Camino Francés. I had planned to go through the mountains because I really love them. That’s why I chose to begin from the city of León and follow the San Salvador and then the Primitivo.
On the French route, I had an amazing walking buddy. We were truly on the same wavelength and had been walking together for 9 days. It was hard to say goodbye when our paths separated.
Then I had this crazy idea, what if we arrived in Santiago at the same time? 470 km in 10 days? Let’s try it!
I never planned to be the fastest in the self-supported female category, I simply wanted to catch up with my friend. That was my biggest motivation. And I made it! :)
The route was beautiful, with plenty of water sources and shops along the way. I had no problems getting food and water. In the evenings, I stayed in albergues, where I had the chance to meet wonderful people.
Unfortunately, due to the long daily distances, I couldn’t spend much time with them, but I still had so many memorable experiences.
P.S.: I’m an ultrarunner, so covering long distances on foot wasn’t a problem, more like a great challenge. (Though I have to admit, as soon as I reached the cathedral, the fatigue of the past 10 days hit me all at once :D )
