After making camp at Chisos Basin, I decided I might just have time to catch sunset at Emory Peak. Grabbed some water and a headlamp and scurried up as fast as I could. Not remembering which side was the proper peak, I first tried going up the left side before realizing my mistake, losing a few minutes in the process. I finally reached the actual peak and took in the amazing views before hightailing it back down. It was dark within the first mile of my descent but the cooling temperatures made for an easy trip back down to the trailhead.
