This trail to the North Franklin Mountain peak is well marked, well maintained and very enjoyable out-and-back. It's a short walk to the trailhead from the free parking lot at Chuck Heinrich Memorial Park. I had purchased my State Park day pass online, and left the paper copy in the dash of the car. The first 3.5 miles are pretty smooth double track and climb steadily toward the mountains. I locked in on an easy run pace, only encountering a few other people enjoying the trails. Eventually the trail turns to single-track. While there are still several runnable sections, the density of loose rock on the trail, as well as the steeper incline necessitated walking for me. Once at the top I paused for a few minutes to enjoy the view and take some pictures. Outside of slowing to walk a few technical sections, I ran most of the way back down to the trailhead. In setting my time goal, I used the men's time of 1:40 as my goal for reaching the top. Since there's no FKT time for the RT, I used a Strava QOM time (2:56) on a similar segment for my goal.
