Hiked the Tiger Leaping Gorge High Trail for 2 days accompanying parents, and decided to run the trail as training for an ultra race next week. Since I already made my way to Tina's Guest House, I did the trail in the opposite direction as the original runner.
I ran the trail self-supported, with water starting off and purchased more beverage and snacks along the way. Need to note that most shops along the trail close in the early afternoon, so purchases need to be made in the morning hours.
The trail is incredibly fun with challenging ascent and descent and relaxing flat and downhill sections. The view of the Jade Dragon Mountain and the Jinsha River below is breathtaking.
Trail Update:
The trail indicated in the original GPX goes a bit beyond the current "official" starting point of the high trail, which has a big stone plaque with the words "Tiger Leaping Gorge High Trail Hiking Starting Point" written in Chinese. I still ran according to the original GPX to respect the first FKT. However, starting and ending the run here would avoid running along steep highway with fast cars and hairpin curves into the town of Tiger Leaping Gorge. The GPS coordinate for the starting point is: 27.17412, 100.07264
