With iffy weather this was a safer choice than my original peakbagging plan. Despite some rain views were really nice most of the day. Mountain lakes and stunning peaks in every direction. I saw many backpackers, super friendly and much more accommodating than necessary.
I set out with a goal of matching Felice's mark and likewise went CCW. Unfortunately I forgot to pack a vest, so an old hiking pack had to suffice (not recommended, but now I know what it's like). I carried 2L water and 1400kcal which was just right. I felt on track until Glacier Pass, but the descent from Glacier toward Polaris was harder than expected with all the sharp and loose rocks. With about 8m to go I was finally able to make up some time. It was a (toe-)nailbiter to the end. I wonder if the CW direction might be slightly easier.
This route is exactly duplicated as a variation to the Wallowa Lake Tour. I propose eliminating the WLT "W Fork Lollipop" variation tab (while keeping the reference) to avoid confusion. Thanks to the route creator for sharing this great route.
